Bring your body and your story. I'll take that information, evaluate you using all the information I have stored in my personal database, and come up with a sense of what your neuro-musculoskeletal pattern is surrounding the issue(s) you've brought. At that point we'll do a combination of simple bodywork manipulation, yoga poses, or whatever else seems appropriate to help you understand what's going on and walk away with an understanding of what to do next. The session may be mostly yoga, bodywork, evaluation... it depends on the situation.

Mysore style, or self-practice, is the traditional method of learning Ashtanga vinyasa yoga. Mysore is a city in India where this practice originated. It is still taught there in the traditional way today. Each student moves with their own breath through a sequence of postures at their own pace. Through hands-on adjustments and verbal cues from the teacher they find their way deeper into postures. Small groups allow the teacher to build a relationship with each student and their practice, better enabling the teacher to address the specific needs of each student. Students of all levels practice together, each working in a way that is appropriate for them while enjoying the energy of practicing with a group. Students of all levels are welcome to attend. No experience is necessary, just a willingness to learn.

Christine Wiese took her first Ashtanga yoga class in 2001, and has been enthusiastically practicing ever since. The joy of movement without performance and of meditation in motion keeps her practicing. Gradually devoting more time to this practice has brought many great things into her life, including the opportunity to share this practice in the manner in which it is traditionally taught.

Yoga Rahasya : A long lost yogic text attributed to Nathamuni, a ninth century yogi and Vaisnavite saint and said to have been channeled through his descendent Sri Krishnamacharya. The title itself means "Secrets of Yoga" and true to its name, this wonderful masterpiece offers many deep insights into the use and applications of yoga, including valuable information on how to utilize yoga as a therapeutic tool, importance of yoga for women, yoga for pregnancy and yoga for different stages of life.

Vedic Chanting is the correct and only method of chanting the Vedas. Transmitted orally from teacher to student over millennia, the chanting of the Vedas is bound by strict rules that have remained unchanged since the beginning. Very energizing, centering and calming, it requires precise measure and cadence, correct enunciation, grammatical formation and most importantly a subtle modulation of breath. In fact Vedic chanting is in itself a complete mode of pranayama and is said to change the physical chemistry of the body. The workshop will include the practice of various chants from the Upanishads as well as the Gayatri mantra.
